John’s first resort based restaurant is located in the heart of Vail Village. A renovation inside the Lodge at Vail to replace the existing Wildflower Restaurant, the design is based on materials found in historic western taverns but updated to include 21st century amenities and mountain elegance. The dining space is separated into three distinct spaces surrounding a central open kitchen: a bar/lounge space, casual dining, and fine dining, each space with its own Elway’s character. An open rack system was designed to be functional and decorative. The rack system bounds the kitchen, providing storage for kitchen utensils, while creating a flexible visual and sound barrier from the kitchen and back of house space. Photographs from John’s football days complete the décor of the restaurant.
