Builder’s First Source (BFS) is not your average lumberyard nor fabricated metal building. Housing a show room, sales area and both interior and exterior warehouse/storage in Carbondale, Colorado, BFS elevates fabricated metal building design by merging typical frame construction and fabricated building construction into a seamless structure. The site has three distinctive design elements. The first is the steel framed showroom with a decorative storefront entry and accent wall, designed to showcase the space as well as products the lumberyard sells. Attached to the showroom is a large metal building which houses the sales area and warehouse. Design of the fabricated building was a collaboration between NeoStudio and Big Johnson Construction, the steel building fabricators. The warehouse features clear story windows, complicated hipped roofs and additional dormers which help to enhance and elevate the design of the steel fabricated building. Finally, a storage shed with similar roof and accent doors ties the site together.
